Acer enters phablet market with Liquid S1

Acer has announced its entry into the exponentially growing phablet market with the Liquid S1. The Liquid S1 has a 5.7-inch touch screen display with a resolution of 1280 x720 pixels and comes with a stylus. The dual SIM Android phablet runs the latest Android 4.2 with minimal user interface modifications - offering similar experience as the Google Nexus smartphones. Acer's Float user interface offers a few useful tweaks such as floating widgets.

Floating widgets allow multiple apps to run simultaneously in small windows that can be placed anywhere on the screen - this makes it easier to multitask and switch between running apps. The phone also comes with AcerCloud support the offers document editing in the cloud, remote file access from the smartphone to any other device wirelessly and multimedia streaming from the cloud. The device also comes with Swype keyboard preloaded that offers one-handed input ability to the user making it easier to type.

The Liquid S1 is powered by a 1.5GHz quad core processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage that can be expanded via microSD and a 2,400mAh battery. It has an 88-degree wide angle 2MP front camera and a rear 8MP camera with a 28mm wide angle lens and an LED flash. The camera also offers full HD video recording, voice and smile shutter and 16fps continuous shooting. Weighing 195 grams, the phone offers 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 wireless connectivity with built-in GPS.




Priced around US $427 (Rs 23,500 approx), the phone is expected to arrive in India towards the end of the year.
