Omidyar Network backs D2C home building material firm Mistry.Store
The startup received seed funding of $2 million in a round led by Omidyar, Waveform VC, Bharat Founders and angel investors like Oyo’s Maninder Gulati, Cars24 founder Vikram Chopra and Swiggy CEO Rohit Kapoor among others.

Founded by Vaibhav Poddar and Bhanu Mahajan in 2022, Mistry.Store works as an online store for building materials and home interiors, like wood, plumbing, hardware and paint for homeowners.
The platform is primarily focused on enabling home interior professionals like architects, interior decorators, contractors etc., to be able to procure building materials on behalf of their customers.
"While this market is highly organized in western countries, no significant player has emerged yet in the India market, owing to local market dynamics”, said Poddar.
Companies like The Home Depot and Lowe’s have a significant presence in the North American market with retail stores across the USA, Canada and Mexico. Indian consumers on the other hand rely on local suppliers for their building material and home interior needs. Home interior in India, is a $25 billion market, employing over five million people and is expected to touch $38 billion by 2027.
Indian companies like Pepperfry and Urban Ladder already offer home decor and furniture on their platforms but not building material and interior supplies.
Mistry.Store, which is currently focused in only the Delhi-NCR region, aims to use the funding to create an end-to-end tech enabled solution for home interior professionals and their homeowner customers.
