Sugar.fit, a healthtech startup that seeks to manage and reverse type 2 and pre-diabetes, has raised $5 million in a funding round led by global tech-focused investment firm B Capital.

The funds will be used to expand its technology and product offerings, boost brand presence, and accelerate research and development in diabetes management.

Founded in 2021, the company offers a diabetes management programme that combines technology with personalised human interventions. It serves over 30,000 users on its platform.

The company has an omnichannel presence with seven diabetes clinics in Bengaluru, providing innovative wellness services, including stress management, live fitness and yoga sessions and VR chromotherapy, among others.

"We want to make Bengaluru clinics work well, figure out the things we need to work on before we take on to other metropolitan cities as well,” said cofounder and chief executive Madan Somasundaram.

“Our core fundamental belief is that people have to see very strong outcomes, so we need to maintain that…Today, 50-60% of our business is purely from word of mouth and referrals."

Commenting on the investment, Karan Mohla, general partner at B Capital, said, "India faces the challenge of managing a dual disease burden, marked by the increasing prevalence of chronic care conditions, notably diabetes. Despite significant investments in healthcare, we continue to grapple with the enduring challenges of access, affordability and quality, known as the 'Iron Triangle'.”

On October 31 last year, ET reported that the firm raised $11 million led by MassMutual Ventures. It also saw participation from Tanglin Venture Partners, Endiya Partners and Cure.Fit.
