Edtech startup FlashPrep gets pre-seed funding from Venture Highway, others

Bengaluru: FlashPrep, an education technology startup, has raised $500,000 in a pre-seed funding round led by Venture Highway, alongwith participation of Better Capital, First Cheque and a few angel investors.

The Bengaluru-based firm plans to use the capital to strengthen its user base and expand product offerings.

Founded in October 2020 by Dhiresh Nagwani and Ashwini Dhekane, FlashPrep is a mobile based platform that offers school curriculum-related learning solutions. It condenses study material into bite-sized information. It uses techniques such as spaced repetition that helps students retain information for longer periods of time. The company claims to have more than 15,000 monthly active users and that its app has been downloaded 30,000 times so far.


“At FlashPrep, we believe in building a companion app for subject mastery and providing accessibility to quality content for aspirants across tiers,” Nagwani, who is also the chief executive of the company, said. “The funding will help us to take this ambition to new heights, diversify our product offering and strengthen our user base.”

According to Priya Mohan, ‘startup sensei’ at Venture Highway, FlashPrep’s testing formats combined, with some highly contextualised student centric features, solves a real pain point. “And their early customer love is evidence to that,” she said.
