DanaMojo, Bengaluru based startup that provides online payment gateway to non-profit organisations, on Wednesday, announced to have raised Rs 3.05 crore in its first round of funding.

Rohini Nilekani, founder chairperson of Arghyam Foundation, and Social Alpha, a multistage innovation curation and venture development platform became the key investors of DanaMojo.

DanaMojo is one of the first organisations in this space to receive funding from an institutional investor Social Alpha in its first round of funding. Seedfund India general partner Pravin Gandhi, and Vasanthi Anand are other investors.

DanaMojo founder Dhaval Udani said the investment is extremely encouraging for social entrepreneurs in India. “With my experience in the NGO space, I understand the need for specialised services for non-profits and we hope to strengthen our offering to assist them in the best way possible,” he said.

On investing in DanaMojo, Nilekani said India needs many intermediary organisations in both nonprofit and for profit spaces, beyond donors and their receiving partners to influence at scale. “We hope the capital invested will enable several other organisations to build their communities of support, networks, impact and organisational capacities,” she said.

DanaMojo was launched in 2016 with an aim to simplify online payments for non-profits to reduce their overall time, energy and cost involved in managing donations. Over 900 NGOs have come on board of this startup.
