Cosmetic solutions startup MakeO has raised $16 million (Rs 133 crore) in a new round of funding led by 360 ONE Asset, formerly IIFL Wealth, and the investment office of public markets investor Ashish Kacholia.

Existing investors including Eight Roads Ventures, South Korea’s Paramark Ventures also participated in the round.

The company said it plans to use the proceeds to expand its footprint across India and add more experience centres.

Founded in 2018 by orthodontists Arpi Mehta Shah, Pravin Shetty, Manjul Jain, and Anirudh Kal, MakeO provides a digital-first clinical cosmetic makeover platform which gives customers access to dental, skin and hair treatment solutions. It initially provided orthodontist-supervised dental aligner, Toothsi, and has diversified to at-home laser hair removal treatment, Skinnsi, among other services.

The company had previously raised $40 million in May 2022.

The company created an umbrella brand ‘MakeO’ in 2022, diversifying into a clinical-grade solutions provider for skin, smile and hair makeovers. It brought Toothsi and Skinnsi as sub-brands under the umbrella brand.

"Our mission is to ensure that clinical-grade makeovers are more accessible, affordable and convenient to every Indian. The capital will enable us to strengthen our online and offline footprint, offering customers the convenience of accessing our services at their doorstep or through our physical experience centres,” said Dr Arpi Mehta, cofounder and chief executive, MakeO.

It claims to have served over 150,000 customers so far across its product lines.

"Their approach is truly unique. The technology platform coupled with physical and digital expert access at every stage allows MakeO, to offer customised dental and derma solutions to its customers," said Kacholia.
