Bengaluru: Mumbai-based venture capital firm Blinc Invest announced the final close of its Fund-II with a target corpus of Rs 100 crore.

The Sebi-registered fund was founded by Amit Ratnapal in 2014 and invests in early-stage startups in the fintech and edtech sectors.

Its portfolio includes the likes of Mumbai-based student loan facilitating platform Eduvanz, edtech firm Imarticus Learning and crowdfunding platform 1Crowd.

Blinc Invest has deployed over Rs 300 crore in 25 companies to date through its two funds. Fund-II saw participation from Indian and global limited partners (LPs who are sponsors in the fund) across various categories including high net worth individuals, family offices, corporates, and institutional investors. “We mainly focus on pre-series A funding and our average ticket size is around Rs 5 crore to Rs 20 crore,” Ratnapal told ET.

Through Blinc Fund II, the VC fund plans to make five-seven investments of Rs 10-20 crore each.

“The fund takes a cofounder approach by working very closely with the portfolio company management teams to help them scale,” Ratnapal said. “We believe there is a large opportunity for edtech and fintech in India and even our other funds in the future will focus on that and we will stick to investing in pre-series A,” he added.

Amid a slowdown in funding rounds in India especially in the edtech space, Ratnapal said that valuations are correcting and Blinc Invest is also slowing down its investment to analyse the market.

“Valuations are rebalancing and real businesses will survive,” Ratnapal added.
