US defence firm Anduril Industries is in talks to raise as much as $8 billion in a new ‌funding round at a valuation of at least $60 billion, Bloomberg News reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The funding would give the company greater leeway to finance its first major weapons-manufacturing facility and develop an autonomous fighter ‌jet, the Information reported earlier.

Anduril was valued at $30.5 billion in a $2.5 billion funding round in June last year, and the new valuation would be roughly double that figure.

Anduril did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment outside regular business hours.

Defence-tech startup Anduril develops solutions, including a wide ‌range of sensors and drones, and has gained prominence amid increasing calls for low-cost autonomous defence products.

The company has become one of Silicon Valley's hottest defence bets as drones reshape warfare in Ukraine and U.S. President Donald Trump pushes the Pentagon to adopt cutting-edge technologies to counter China.
