ByteEdge, an enterprise AI knowledge transfer platform, has raised $1.5 million in a funding round led by Japan-based venture capital (VC) firm TRTL Ventures.

The round also saw participation from global and Indian angel investors.

According to cofounder Akash Gupt, the funds will be used for product development and expansion in the Indian market.

“The challenge that organisations face today is that all organisational knowledge exists in text documents—PDFs, Word files, PowerPoint, and so on. Since this knowledge is stored in such formats, when it is delivered to the workforce—especially the frontline, where 70% of employees are deskless—it often goes unread and misunderstood,” Gupt said.

Founded in 2022 by Kamal Dutta and Gupt, the New Delhi-based startup converts traditional business documents into cinematic, multilingual short videos.

The company is expanding into the US and Middle East markets and is planning to close a $3 million funding round for its international growth within the next four to five months, he said.

“This is a global problem. The biggest challenge in the Middle East is that there is no platform in those countries that can provide this kind of information in the local Arabic language, especially in video format. So we see a big potential there. The same applies to the US, which is generally a much larger market for this," Gupt added.

India currently accounts for 80-85% of the company's business, with the startup serving more than 30 global enterprises across sectors such as financial services, pharmaceuticals, FMCG, and ecommerce.
