Inmobi founder and chief executive officer Naveen Tewari sounded caution for tech professionals, saying that his company will achieve 80% automation in software coding by the end of this year, resulting in job losses for software engineers on its payroll.

"I think my software engineers will go away. They will not have jobs within two years," Tewari said during an event by LetsVenture, an early-stage investment platform. "My CTO (chief technology officer) will deliver 80% automation in software coding by the end of this year. We have already achieved 50%. The codes created by the machine are faster and better, and they fix themselves," he said, speaking to Shanti Mohan, CEO of LetsVenture.

Tewari urgently called on professionals to upgrade themselves, saying that artificial intelligence (AI) will first come for the highly specialised jobs. "Upgrade yourself, don't ask me to upgrade you. Because this is survival. The world underneath you is shifting," he said, referring to employees.

He also said investors' jobs are in danger as there are now models that can make better choices. "The only part the model cannot replicate is human psychology. So, if you're good at reading people, then you have a job, but most investors are not good at reading people. They're good at business models."

ET reported in January 2024 that the InMobi group is overhauling its operations by adopting an AI-first approach. InMobi has two companies under it: InMobi Ads, a business-to-business company focused on advertising technology, and Glance, a consumer technology business-to-consumer company, which offers a smart lock screen technology platform designed for android-based smartphones.

Glance on Thursday announced a strategic partnership with Google Cloud to develop GenAI solutions for Glance-enabled smartphones worldwide.

In September, the Softbank-backed company raised $100 million in debt financing from MARS Growth Capital, to accelerate its AI development and deployment.

“By now, you are either going to be a GenAI-led company, or you will not survive. It is a winner-takes-most market and early players will have a disproportionate advantage,” Tewari had told ET in September last year.
