Using AI as my learning strategist

Overwhelmed by information, Kannan now uses AI as a weekly learning strategist, gaining concise, multi-perspective insights.

Like many people, I used to try and keep up with work trends by reading endless articles, saving research papers I’d rarely revisit, and attending events in the hope of learning something new. It often felt overwhelming.

This changed when I started using AI as my personal learning strategist. Now, at the start of each week, I define a clear learning objective — perhaps demystifying a new compliance regulation shaping our industry, or exploring the nuances of enterprise automation. I begin by prompting the AI to outline the latest developments, summarising perspectives from regulators, industry analysts, and solution providers.

Rather than sifting through hundreds of pages, I receive condensed, multi-angle views in minutes. But curation is just the beginning.

I engage in iterative dialogues, asking the AI to provide case studies, challenge assumptions and simulate ‘what-if’ market scenarios based on real-world data. I can probe deeper — asking for a summary of counterarguments — so that my understanding isn’t one-dimensional. The real value reveals itself when theory meets practice.

Before rolling out a new digital capability, I ask the AI to help construct impact models and identify blind spots. I’ve used generative tools to draft internal playbooks, test-drive messaging for stakeholders and even organise learning sprints, grounded in evidence-based insights.

AI doesn’t replace human intuition or leadership, but it provides a disciplined, unbiased partner.
