Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and Meta Platforms (formerly Facebook) are coming together to create a new company focussed on artificial intelligence (AI) for businesses. The new entity, named Reliance Enterprise Intelligence Limited (REIL), will concentrate on developing and selling "enterprise AI services."

The partnership is structured as a joint venture (JV) between RIL's subsidiary, Reliance Intelligence Limited, and Meta's wholly owned subsidiary, Facebook Overseas, Inc.

Reliance Intelligence will hold the majority stake of 70% in REIL, while Facebook Overseas will hold the remaining 30% stake.

REIL was officially incorporated in India on October 24, 2025, to serve as the joint venture vehicle for the partnership.

What's the scope?

The new company is focussed on a specific segment of the technology market. Its main focus is to develop, market, and distribute enterprise AI services. With this partnership, the companies are looking to strengthen their enterprise technology capabilities and create AI-based solutions.

The two partners have committed an initial investment of approximately Rs 855 crore into the venture. Reliance Intelligence subscribed to 2,000,000 equity shares, amounting to Rs 2 crore, towards REIL's initial capital.

According to an exchange filing, the incorporation of REIL does not fall under related party transactions, and none of Reliance Industries’ promoters, promoter group, or group companies have any interest in the transaction. The filing also noted that no governmental or regulatory approvals were required for the incorporation of REIL.

Recap

This JV was first announced at RIL's Annual General Meeting in August. It will use Meta’s open-source Llama models combined with Reliance’s enterprise reach to command the AI sector.
