Users will also get access to Comet assistant to automate tasks such as booking a meeting or sending an email,” the company said in a blog post, announcing the launch.
The AI web browser will be available to Perplexity Max and Pro subscribers, and invite-only users who signed up for a waitlist. “This release represents Comet’s biggest batch of users getting access from the waitlist in one go.. Further access remains limited as we continue to grant waitlist access each week,” the company said in a statement.
However, the company did not share the number of users who will be getting access to the browser. This comes after the company’s partnership with Airtel, where the latter’s subscribers were able to get Perplexity Pro access for a year.
With this, the company is challenging Google’s dominance in search space, where it has a market share of over 90%. Perplexity is not the only company coming for Google’s Search pie, as AI changes the way consumers browse the internet. According to reports, OpenAI is also looking to launch an AI browser in the coming weeks.
