OpenAI launches GPT-4.5: All you need to know

OpenAI has introduced GPT-4.5, its latest AI model, in a research preview for ChatGPT Pro users and developers worldwide. The rollout will expand in the coming weeks, with Plus and Team users gaining access next week, followed by Enterprise and Edu users.

Key features of GPT-4.5

• Improved pattern recognition and creativity: GPT-4.5 better identifies patterns and generates creative insights, but its reasoning capabilities remain limited compared to some previous models.
• Greater emotional intelligence: The model demonstrates better understanding of human emotions in text-based interactions.
• Lower hallucination rate: The model’s false information generation has dropped to 37.1%, compared with GPT-4o’s 61.8% and the o1 reasoning model’s 44%.
• Expanded capabilities: It supports file and image uploads and works on writing and coding projects, though advanced features such as voice and video are not yet included.

Rollout challenges

CEO Sam Altman described GPT-4.5 as a “giant, expensive model” and noted GPU shortages as a key challenge in the phased rollout. OpenAI plans to add tens of thousands of GPUs to meet demand.

Backed by Microsoft, OpenAI continues to refine its AI capabilities, with GPT-4.5 positioned as a step forward in improving reliability and user experience.
