Nvidia ‘delighted’ at Google's chip push, but asserts its ‘generational’ lead
Nvidia welcomes Google's entry into the external AI chip market, even as it asserts its industry leadership. While Google plans to offer its TPUs to other companies, Nvidia highlights its own GPUs as a superior, versatile platform for all AI model...

Reports suggested that Google is planning to market its Tensor processing units (TPUs) to external parties for AI computing, after exclusively using them in-house till now. The Gemini AI parent is looking to capture 10% of Nvidia’s business, which is currently the dominant player in the space.
“We’re delighted by Google’s success — they’ve made great advances in AI and we continue to supply to Google,” Nvidia posted on X.
“Nvidia is a generation ahead of the industry — it’s the only platform that runs every AI model and does it everywhere computing is done. Nvidia offers greater performance, versatility, and fungibility than ASICs, which are designed for specific AI frameworks or functions,” it further added.
Announcing estimate-beating third quarter results earlier this month, Nvidia announced strong demand for its chips. CEO Jensen Huang said that companies around the world are shifting from classical computing machines and software relying on CPUs, to AI-infused systems equipped with graphics processing units (GPUs), which are Nvidia’s specialty.
OpenAI, too, is attempting to develop its own custom silicon through a partnership with Broadcom, with initial deployment likely in the latter half of 2026.
