Vibe coding refers to the practice of instructing AI agents to write code based on natural language prompts.
Confirming the development on microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter), Replit’s chief executive Amjad Masad said, “We’re aligned with Microsoft on a shared mission: empowering every person and organization to create and achieve more.”
Founded in 2016, Replit is a software development platform that offers “browser-native environments”, which streamlines the coding process by eliminating setup requirements. Its AI tools develop applications based on user instructions including user interfaces, databases, and backend logic making it an all-in-one platform. It claims adoption from teams at Google, Anthropic, Coinbase among others on its website.
The collaboration provides Replit access to Microsoft’s extensive enterprise customer base and infrastructure services. In turn, Microsoft can strengthen its AI development offerings by integrating Replit’s natural-language-based app development tools to its business customers..
