In a post on X, Google shared colourful AI-generated images reimagining Indian cities in crochet form, created using Gemini’s image generation capabilities.
ET verified the functionality, which can generate diverse visuals from crochet-style rooms and cars to reimagined Bollywood posters and scenes based solely on text prompts.

However, Gemini does not allow users to recreate personal images in crochet format, a safeguard to prevent misuse for deepfakes or identity fraud.
YouTube Shorts gets Gemini-fied
The feature, powered by Veo 2 — Google’s second-generation video generation model released in December 2024 — allows users to remix their photos into videos, comics, sketches, and 3D animations.

It is currently available in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, with a broader rollout expected later this year. The tool is free to use.
The momentum follows Google’s decision to offer Indian college students aged 18 and above free access to its premium Google AI Pro plan worth Rs 19,500 annually until September 15, 2025.
