Google cofounder Larry Page is launching a new company called Dynatomics, which focuses on using artificial intelligence (AI) in product manufacturing, as reported by The Information.

Page is said to be collaborating with a small team of engineers on AI that can generate “highly optimised” designs for products, which can then be built by a factory.

The project is being led by Chris Anderson, the former chief technology officer (CTO) of the Page-supported electric airplane startup Kittyhawk.

This is part of a broader trend where many former tech giant employees are starting their own ventures. For example, Jonathan Godwin, a former senior researcher at DeepMind, is developing generative AI technology to help produce new physical materials.

In a similar vein, last month, Mira Murati, the former CTO of OpenAI, launched an AI startup called Thinking Machines Lab. She’s assembled a team of about 30 top researchers and engineers from rivals like OpenAI, Meta, and Mistral. The company’s goal is to build AI systems that encode human values and have a wider range of applications than those of its competitors.

Meanwhile, OpenAI cofounder Ilya Sutskever has started his own AI venture, Safe Superintelligence, focused on developing "safe superintelligence" that is not only smarter than humans but also aligned with human interests.
