At the Economic Times World Leaders Forum, noted economist Nouriel Roubini said that the advancements in artificial intelligence will fundamentally transform the world. While recent years have seen a significant focus on Generative AI, Roubini believes there is much more to come.

He said that the next phase of AI will involve a convergence of software and hardware, with advancements in robotics and automation playing a crucial role in this evolution.

He further said that AI will pose a threat to jobs across the globe. On the application of AI in medical science, Roubinu said has the potential to significantly extend human lifespan.

Asked what India would require for its economic success to continue, Roubini said that there is a need to further expand the reforms that have been announced so far. Roubini said he was quite optimistic that India will be a greater global superpower in times to come.
