Elon Musk said his artificial intelligence (AI) company SpaceXAI will change its name to SpaceXSI, following President Donald Trump's push to replace "artificial intelligence" with "super intelligence" across the industry.

The plan comes days after Trump signed an executive order directing federal agencies to use the term. The order, signed on September 29, replaces "artificial intelligence" with "Super Intelligence," or "SI," on official websites, policy documents and government press releases.

Before the order, Trump had polled followers on X and Truth Social on alternatives such as "superior intelligence" and "supreme intelligence," and "Super Intelligence" won those informal polls.

‘‘The name Super Intelligence conveys the true capabilities of the technologies being developed today, unlocking new forms of human creativity and empowering Americans to achieve what was previously impossible — not simply imitating or automating human intelligence as is implied by the term “Artificial Intelligence,” the White House executive order says.

Musk has already adopted the language. He reportedly said "AI" while standing next to Trump on Tuesday before correcting himself to say "SI".

The company has changed names before. xAI was officially rebranded as SpaceXAI in July, five months after SpaceX acquired it. The rename brought Grok and the company's other AI products under the SpaceX banner. SpaceX, together with xAI and X, went public in June at a valuation of about $2.1 trillion.

The Super Intelligence turn

Following a meeting last week with US president Donald Trump at the White House to address growing concerns around artificial intelligence, top tech leaders signed a "morally binding" Super Intelligence accord.

The Super Intelligence accord is a one-page document that seeks to establish voluntary safety standards for the AI industry. Although the agreement is not legally enforceable, it leaves open the possibility of incorporating its measures into laws or regulations in the future.

The agreement was signed by six tech bosses of firms that build key frontier models and hardware – Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, OpenAI President Greg Brockman, xAI CEO Elon Musk, and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. The document was later posted on Trump's and the executives' social media handles.
