China says countries should not 'politicise' trade after South Korea blocks DeepSeek

Beijing said Monday that "relevant countries" should not "politicise trade and technology" after South Korea said Chinese AI app DeepSeek would not be available to download pending a review of its data handling processes.

"We hope relevant countries will avoid taking measures that overstretch the concept of security or politicise trade and technology issues," foreign ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said at a regular press conference in Beijing.
