Anthropic officially opened its new office in Bengaluru on Monday, pushing a significant expansion in India, the second-largest market for Claude, its AI assistant. The AI company also announced partnerships across enterprise, education, and agriculture sectors to bolster responsible AI adoption in the country.

India drives nearly half of Claude's usage for computer and mathematical tasks, like building applications and modernising systems, with run-rate revenue doubling since the October 2025 expansion announcement.

The Bengaluru office will be Anthropic's second in Asia after Tokyo, and will be led by tech veteran managing director Irina Ghose. The AI giant will hire local talent and offer applied AI expertise to help enterprises, digital natives, and startups scale Claude-powered solutions tailored to Indian needs, it said in a statement.

Key enterprise wins include Air India using Claude Code for faster custom software development and agentic AI to cut costs, Cred achieving two times faster feature delivery and 10% better test coverage; and Cognizant rolling it out to 350,000 global employees for legacy upgrades.

Indian startups like Razorpay integrate it into risk systems, while Enterpret and Emergent rely on it for AI assistants and rapid growth to $25 million annual recurring revenue (ARR).
