AI is an incredible power and is deeply disruptive: Vishal Sikka
There is a gap between LLMs and their business users, and bridging it is an opportunity, said Vishal Sikka, founder and chief executive of Viani, as he delivered his keynote speech at the India AI Impact Summit, 2026, on Thursday.

“My first point is that what we see today in the world of AI, people who know what they are doing with AI are astonishingly effective….It is an incredible power and it is deeply disruptive to the ways that we have worked before,” the former Infosys CEO said.
Sikka cited the example of one of his customers, a distributor of home goods, whose supplier had shut shop and exited operations in a country in a matter of a few days, which otherwise would have taken over a year. "Now have instant access to knowledge in any language, and a condensation of things that we can present in any way,” Sikka said.
However, he noted that this effectiveness is not uniform. “That is my second point; being effective with AI requires understanding its limitations and how to overcome those,” he said.
Bridging this gap between enterprises and LLMs requires delivering trusted and verifiable systems, Sikka highlighted, adding that this exercise will also push developers and entrepreneurs in India to imagine what is possible with AI.
“My third point is that we not only have to master today's AI, but we have to leapfrog it. AI today has enormous limitations…that's one of the main issues blocking the use of AI in enterprises,” Sikka said.
Sikka laid out two main issues limiting large-scale adoption of AI; hallucinations in AI systems, leading to safety issues, and the energy-intensive nature of AI systems.
While swarms of agents can be made to do completely reckless things, enterprises don't yet have ways to understand or deal with this, Sikka noted. “We have to solve this issue. We have to deliver AI that is safe,” he said.
Drawing parallels with how India went from having concerns around food production to one of the largest exporters of agricultural products, Sikka said in the age of intelligence, it is important to not only learn and understand the limitations of the technology but also leapfrog that and to build the next generation of it.
“This summit vividly demonstrates that we can be on our way to a human revolution powered by good AI, purposeful AI, where every one of us, a billion entrepreneurs, is not just making a living, but is making a life,” Sikka said in his concluding remarks.
