AI companies must prove services are safe for citizens, EU Commission says

The debate ​about AI was ​thrust back into the spotlight after chief executive ‌of Anthropic, Dario Amodei, ​said ​on ⁠Saturday that companies must slow the pace of ​advance of AI models.

The ​European Union is ​in favour of developing innovation in ‌artificial ⁠intelligence, but companies ⁠have ​to prove their services ​are safe for citizens to operate ​in ⁠the bloc, ‌EU ​Commission ​spokesperson Thomas ⁠Regnier said on Monday.

The debate about AI was thrust back into the spotlight after chief executive ‌of Anthropic, Dario Amodei, said on ⁠Saturday that companies must slow the pace of advance of AI models.
