Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.45%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.

Shares of Exide Industries Ltd.(up 4.53 per cent), Ashok Leyland Ltd.(up 1.44 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(up 1.05 per cent), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 0.68 per cent) and TVS Motor Company Ltd.(up 0.67 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(down 1.64 per cent), Apollo Tyres Ltd.(down 1.31 per cent), Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(down 0.95 per cent), Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 0.29 per cent) and Bosch Ltd.(down 0.29 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.


The Nifty Auto index closed 0.45 per cent up at 23517.35.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 80.41 points at 24274.9, while the BSE Sensex stood up 230.02 points at 80234.08.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 26 ended in the green, while 24 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, NTPC Green Energy, Ola Electric Mobilit, Sagility India and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Shaily Engg Plastics, Xpro India, Nahar Capital, Sagility India and Avonmore Capital hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Debock Sales & Mktg, WABCO India, MITCON Const & Engg.(PP), Hathway Cable and Sanginita Chemicals hit their fresh 52-week lows.
