BENGALURU: ZenParent, a digital media company targeted at parents, has raised $500,000 (Rs 3.17 crore) from i2india Ventures to ramp up operations and expand into cities beyond Bengaluru. The company, which has mobile and web presence, shows information on parenting, habits, recreational activities, among others. The content is written by about 15 people, who are experts in parenting.

“There is no one single source of great content for parents in the Indian context. So we decided to start this,” said CEO Supriya Hiremagalur, graduate of Indian School of Business. The idea for the firm was seeded last October, in i2india ventures, which experiments inhouse ideas before giving wings to it.

Instead of just incubating startups, i2india Ventures claims that it builds startups using stringent quality processes, which significantly reduces the Time-to-Market and improves the success rate. ParentsIndia, India Parenting and Parentune are a few portals dedicated to parents in India.

“It’s very different from existing solutions. It is personalised and contextual. The firm caters to over 70-odd personas of parents, based on lifestyle, kids preferences,” said Vinay Rao, partner at i2india Ventures.
