Urban Ladder's unique stair climber

The regular logistics firms will not be able to provide such specialised solutions for us, says Ashish Goel, cofounder of Urban Ladder.

Urban Ladder's unique stair climber

Furniture portal Urban Ladder has invested in the ‘ Cargo Master Electric Stair Climbing Trolley’ (pictured), a battery operated machine that allows a single person to move bulky objects up to about 140 kilo grams in weight up and down staircases, sourced from a German manufacturer.

“It is easier to carry large items up staircases, especially when there are tight corners and the staircase is narrow,” said Naveen Kumar, 22, the delivery person who did Urban Ladder’s first delivery using the machine in Bangalore.

Kumar and the other 149 delivery personnel who handle deliveries in seven cities for the two-year-old Urban Ladder are employed by logistics contractors. These contractors work solely for Urban Ladder and the staff is trained by the e-tailer.

“The regular logistics firms will not be able to provide such specialised solutions for us,” said Ashish Goel, co-founder and chief executive of Urban Ladder.
