THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As part of its India expansion plans, US-based Taxi hailing app Uber today launched its services here and three other cities - Guwahati, Nashik and Vadodara, taking the total to 22 cities in the country.

At present, India is the largest geographic market for Uber after the US.

With its current base of over 1,50,000 drivers and continued 40 per cent month-on-month growth, Uber had quickly gained significant market share in India of over 35 per cent, a company release said here.

"Uber has a simple goal, to provide access to reliable, safe and affordable transportation options to hundreds of millions of commuters across the country and the addition of these new cities to our network takes that vision deeper into India," said Uber, Head of Expansion for India and the Subcontinent, Neeraj Singhal.
