Truweight raises first round of funding from Kalaari Capital


BENGALURU: Hyderabad-based Truweight Wellness, a weight loss and fitness startup, has raised its first round of institutional funding from Kalaari Capital. Although the two firms did not disclose the exact amount, the fundingis between $3 and $4 million (about Rs 19.4-25.5 crore), said Rajesh Raju, MD of Kalaari Capital, early-stage tech-focused VC fund based in Bengaluru.

Truweight Wellness has 7,000 users at present under its subscription-based model. The company provides its subscribers more than 30 food products that are made from Super Foods or nutrient-rich food such as barley grass, herbs and foxtail millet, alongwithacustomiseddiet plan. “The funding will primarily be used to develop the mobile app, build a strong corporate team and enable physical expansion into Bengaluru and Chennai,” said Megha More, cofounder of TruweightWellness.
