The Sarvodaya Fishermen Co-operative Society at Pachubandar in Vasai is the first fishermen co-operative in the country to accept payments via digital mode during a fish auction.

MUMBAI: Mumbai based digital payments company TranServ has tied up with Jagruk Nagrik Sanstha, a non governmental organisation to make Vasai cashless by preparing them to accept digital payments for fish auction. The Sarvodaya Fishermen Co-operative Society at Pachubandar in Vasai is the first fishermen co-operative in the country to accept payments via digital mode during a fish auction.

Further through the partnership the fishermen selling their wares in the market have also started accepting payments through their Udio mobile wallets or through the Udio physical prepaid card which is accepted by 10lakh merchants across India. The card works through the Visa network and uses the back end of RBL Bank.

Transerv currently has 2 distributors and by partnering with over 10 large retailers they have sold more than 500 cards in the last few days.
