MUMBAI: Micro-grid-as-a-service, one of Tech Mahindra’s internally funded startups, has signed an memorandum of understanding with the Himachal State Electricity Board to help increase reliability of electricity in the state's remote areas.

The MoU, which also includes the Advanced Energy Centre promoted by Ontario’s Ministry for Energy, will focus on identifying areas of co-operation, collaboration, and innovation especially in areas of the state where electricity demand outstrips its supply.

The company signed a second MoU with the Centre for Urban Energy, a part of Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada, which is aimed at advancing research in microgrids.

Both MoUs were signed during the recent trade mission to India undertaken by Ontario’s Premier Kathleen Wynne.

“For businesses who cannot afford any disruption in power today have to rely on microgrids for efficient distribution. We are pleased at the opportunity to access high-quality research at Ryerson University, as well as work with the AEC, in bringing innovating energy solutions to fruition to our customers and partners,” CP Gurnani, CEO of Tech Mahindra, said in a statement.
