BENGALURU: Online ticketing platform BookMyShow and taxi hailing app Uber have entered into a partnership to enable users to book cabs for a movie or for an event, once they have bought tickets.

Uber has integrated a reminder service into the Bookmyshow app, where a customer will receive a notification to book a cab before the event. The services will be available to those customers who are also an Uber app user.

“We are ex pecting 15-20% of our users to opt for booking an Uber, specifically expecting traction in the top 10 cities,“ said Marzdi Kalianiwala, vice president of business intelligence at BookMyShow. Ac cording to Kalianiwala, since the companies found an overlap in their consumer base, they decided to forge a partnership.

“At present, we are not looking at it as a revenue driver but there is a small component of revenue share, however, negligible in the bigger scheme of things,“ he said.

This is the second such partnership for Uber over the last one year. The company plans to double the number to 100 million tickets in 2016.
