PUNE: On-demand laundry and dry-cleaning services provider Wassup, which acquired laundry service firm Chamak in a full equity deal on Tuesday, said it will now commence operations in Mumbai and target to be in 25 territories in the next nine months.

“In the last one year more than 20 players have come into this market, hence consolidation was inevitable,” said Balachandar R, cofounder and CEO of Chennai-based Wassup, referring to the acquisition of the Mumbai-based firm.

Wassup is targeting one lakh customers and a revenue run rate of Rs 50 crore by March 2016, said Balachandar. The company is looking at four more acquisitions in Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Kolkata. “Our strategy is to expand both customers and geographically through acquisitions,” said Balachandar, who is also planning to turn the Wassup app into a marketplace for other home-related services. Wassup competes with players such as MyWash, Doormint and Pick My Laundry.
