Ola ties up with Directorate General Resettlement to turn ex-servicemen entrepreneurs
BENGALURU: Taxi aggregator Ola today announced a partnership with Directorate General Resettlement (DGR), under Ministry of Defence, to give an opportunity to ex-servicemen to turn entrepreneurs and said it plans to enroll 10,000 by 2020.

"We plan to enroll 10,000 ex-servicemen by 2020 as entrepreneurs... Ola Sainik will allow them to work with pride and flexibility as entrepreneurs on the Ola platform...," Ola Senior Vice President Yugantar Saikia said in a statement.

This association marks the beginning of what could potentially be one of the largest public-private partnerships between the state and a corporate that would be focused on transition from military to civilian life, he said.

Ola will also help them with training, embrace technology and empower them to grow as skilled micro-entrepreneurs on the Ola platform, Saikia said.

Ola Sainik will also make available ex-servicemen larger benefits like training, education and insurance for their family members on the Ola app, he said, adding "the first batch of 'Sainiks' are expected to join the Ola platform in the coming week.

Yesterday, global e-commerce major Amazon had announced a similar talent development programme for ex-service personnel in the country.
