BENGALURU: Enterprise cloud solution provider Nutanix has acquired Sequoia-backed startup Calm.io. This offers a platform for smooth transitioning of software and applications to their newer updates. It has 43 employees. Its engineering team operates out of its office in Bengaluru.

The startup's headquarters is in San Francisco. Nutanix has also executed a definitive agreement to acquire PernixData, a pioneer in scale-out data acceleration and analytics, the company said. PernixData was co-founded in February 2012 by Poojan Kumar and Satyam Vaghani. "PernixData and Calm. io both have exceptional technology, solid engineering teams, and visionary leaders with the 'founder's mentality'; they have dreamt big and persevered against great odds to build phenomenal products," said Dheeraj Pandey, chairman at Nutanix.

Calm.io, which facilitates most of its engineering work from India, said it will continue to provide the dedicated support experience via the Calm.io support portal, which will remain available as the Calm. io team will work with Nutanix to develop the next generation DevOps automation for Enterprise Cloud. "We are excited to join the Nutanix team to work together to eliminate the daunting complexity of legacy data centres by taking a radical, application-centric view of IT infrastructure," said Aaditya Sood, CEO at Calm.io.
