Now get 'sorted' for easy hotel bookings
BENGALURU: Online coupon and cashback firm Coupondunia has launched Sorted, a last-minute hotel booking mobile application. The app competes with discounted offerings made by online travel agents and travel sites as well as branded budget hotel aggregators including Oyo and Treebo.

"Sorted curates a list of 25 hotels based on the best offers we're getting at our various locations and only showcases this hand-picked list to users," said Ankita Tandon, COO at Coupondunia.

The platform currently has a tie-up with nearly 30 hotels each in more than 30 cities it has a presence in and works on a commission based revenue model. "To maximise their occupancies, hotels are willing to slash room rates 10-20%, which will be a discount we extend to our customers," said Tandon.

While a report by STR estimated the average occupancy rate to be 67.6% in the first quarter of 2016, the perishable hotel inventory business has spawned several aggregators, including RoomsTonite. The company in which Times Internet, the internet arm of BCCL, which publishes ET, has a majority stake changed its branding and shifted to a cashback model earlier this month.
