Uber cuts 400 jobs globally, 20-25 in India
At the end of the first quarter, Uber reported having 24,494 workers worldwide, with more that 1,200 of them in marketing.

About 5% or 20-25 employees in India have been affected. They were largely in the central marketing team based out of Gurugram, sources in the know told ET. The cuts have been made across creative, brand, performance marketing and analytics teams, people aware of the matter said. Most of the marketing functions are centralised, reporting directly to headquarters in San Francisco.
In India, the marketing operations are led by Manisha Lath Gupta, who joined the company in May. She reports to Jill Hazelbaker, senior vice president, communications and public policy at Uber. Gupta has four direct reports, including research and analytics, product marketing brand, and creative team heads. They manage a team of 4-12 people across levels.
Uber did not respond to ET's email seeking comment.
