NEW DELHI: Treebo Hotels has made its first buyout, having acquired online events discovery platform Events High for an undisclosed sum.

While the terms and conditions of the transaction were not disclosed, the acquisition marks Treebo’s efforts to add to its services, and takes a leaf out of global accommodation marketplace Airbnb’s successful strategy of offering events and experiences to consumers. “We are on a mission to offer delightful experiences to travellers and build the most loved travel network. Over the last three years, we have made the first big leap in fulfilling this mission by offering great quality hotels at affordable prices,” Sidharth Gupta, cofounder, Treebo, said.

Founded in 2016 by Nikesh Garera and Arvind Batra, Events High counts early-stage investment firm Axilor Ventures as an investor. As part of the transaction, Axilor Ventures will take an undisclosed stake in Treebo.

Gupta told ET that there were no plans to rebrand the venture with the entire team of Events High, which numbers around 15 employees, also being absorbed by Treebo.

“We are excited to have Nikesh, Arvind and the team onboard. They come with strong tech experience having worked with the technology giants like Google and Walmart Labs in the US. Their solid domain expertise and consumer understanding reflects in the strong product they have built,” Gupta said.
