Ola and Uber have been beset by driver protests across India this past year, most recently in Mumbai, primarily because of the steep decline in driver earnings from fares and incentives.

The cab-hailing companies initially offered huge incentives to onboard hundreds of thousands of drivers transforming their lives, but are under pressure now to reduce their expenses.
