Starcom India bags Ola’s media account worth Rs 200 crore

Starcom will now oversee Ola’s media planning and buying in both traditional and digital media across India, as well as for upcoming international markets that Ola will operate in.

MUMBAI: Publicis Groupe owned media buying firm Starcom India said it has secured the media duties of homebred ride-sharing firm Ola following a close contest with several leading agencies.

The account, which was earlier handled by GroupM agency Motivator, is pegged at over Rs 200 crore. Starcom will now oversee Ola’s media planning and buying in both traditional and digital media across India, as well as for upcoming international markets that Ola will operate in.



“Ola was impressed with our strategic planning skills, led by the human experience approach, as also with our strong data and analyticsled capabilities,” Deepak Sharma, MD at Starcom North, said in a statement. “They are on an incredibly exciting journey and we look forward to being a part of their growth and expansion plans.”

Ola claims to have over 800,000 vehicles and a million driver-partners across more than 110 cities.

Mudit Shekhawat, senior director-marketing at Ola, said Starcom was able to demonstrate strong insights in the category and bring in fresh ideas and thinking on the brand. “Their expertise in integrated communications strategies and smart execution will help in further consolidating our leadership in this industry,” Shekhawat said.
