Next billion will use internet to advance their social standing

A study by Booking Holdings, ‘The Next Billion Online’, found that 95% of respondents in India believe that the ‘Next Billion in India’ will use the Internet as a tool to advance their social standing.

The firm surveyed more than 1,000 digital experts in India, China and Indonesia to understand how this set of users would use the internet and the impact it would have on various businesses.

Glenn Fogel, CEO of Booking Holdings, told ET in an email interaction: “These markets have always been an important focus of ours, primarily because of the immense opportunity they represent.
