BENGALURU: Mumbai-based gaming company Nazara Games has acquired a 55% stake in eSports gaming company Nodwin Gaming for an undisclosed amount, the two companies said.

The eSports company will function as an independent subsidiary and together, the companies will focus on expanding both online and offline consumption of e-sports games in India, as well as the West Asian and African markets.

“Nazara Games understands the mobile gaming aspect both locally and globally and Nodwin Gaming is the most dominant player, it has 90-95% of the eSports gaming revenues in the Indian market and is a highly profitable company,” said Manish Agarwal, CEO of Nazara Games. ET reported in February 2017 that Nazara Games planned to invest $20 million in building India’s e-sports ecosystem over the next five years.
