MobiKwik ties up with Tamil Nadu Electricity Board for online bill payments
This is MobiKwik’s latest tie-up following its partnerships with BSNL, Bajaj Finserv Ltd and IndusInd Bank- all inked in 2017.

Bipin Preet Singh, founder and CEO of MobiKwik, said: “With the the Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) going live, residents of Tamil Nadu can now pay their electricity bills with a single tap on their smartphones. Our efforts to digitise utility payments in Tamil Nadu are being acknowledged and we are receiving a positive response.”
The BBPS is a tiered structure for operating bill payments in India.
This is MobiKwik’s latest tie-up following its partnerships with BSNL, Bajaj Finserv Ltd and IndusInd Bank in 2017.
The BBPS allows transactions worth $1 million every day. According to a KPMG report, Rs 2.69 crore was transacted through 19.21 million transactions in December 2017, up 46% from April 2017, when the pilot was launched.
“BBPS is significant in enabling a digital India and will facilitate a cashless society through migration of bill payments from cash to digital channel,” Singh added.
