Mahindra wants more Uday Kotaks out there

Anand Mahindra said wasn’t sure if it was a good thing if fewer entrepreneurs had the desire to build profitable & enduring organisations.

Responding to a story that ET tweeted which said that 70% of startups have an exit strategy of being acquired, Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra said that may not be a bad thing since entrepreneurs can monetise their labour this way, but he said he wasn’t sure if it was a good thing if fewer entrepreneurs had the desire to build profitable & enduring organisations.

When a Twitter user said that great ideas can be incubated by smaller entrepreneurs and then taken to the market by large companies like M&M, Mahindra concurred but added, “… But I still would like to see many more Uday Kotaks who want to build institutions. I can’t believe India would have been better off if he had monetised early...”
