Bengaluru: Healthcare and supplements startup Health-Kart, which owns stores and runs an ecommerce portal, has raised ₹174 crore led by Belgium-based private equity fund Sofina Group.

The company plans to expand physical stores, launch more private-label supplement brands and set up an in-house R&D centre and manufacturing unit to fuel growth, Sameer Maheshwari, CEO, Health-Kart, said.

“Private label is the focus area for us,” Maheshwari said. “There is growing need for preventive healthcare in India, but customers today do not have access to high-quality brands and personalised recommendations.”

The company owns the MuscleBlaze brand and has set up a 30-member R&D team consisting of food scientists and pharmacists who are working on developing nutra-ceutical solutions.
