ET Startup Awards 2019: Tricog wins Top Innovator category

Tricog Health named 'Top Innovator' at ET Startup Awards 2019
The founders of Tricog — Charit Bhograj, Zainul Charbiwala, Udayan Dasgupta and Abhinav Gujjar — launched their company in 2014 with a simple goal of saving lives. They built a technology to speed up cardiac diagnosis and treatment.
Their product combines equipment with artificial intelligence and medical expertise. For instance, when the wearable device tracks the heart rate of the patient, the information is sent to a centrally located hub where a qualified expert is available 24/7. The specialist interprets the electrocardiogram and sends the report through an SMS as well as through a message on Tricog’s mobile app. This helps in faster diagnosis.
The jury took note of the critical use of technology and its requirement and relevance in a country like India. Amitabh Kant, the CEO of Niti Aayog and a jury member, said Tricog was playing a path-breaking role in diagnosis.
Competing closely for the award in the Top Innovator category was Carbon Clean Solutions, a developer of carbon-capture technology, which received high praise from the jury.
“Tricog is solving a very major healthcare problem and the market is huge … Tricog won by a slim margin mainly because of its ability to come up with an advanced technology which can be scaled and marketed to healthcare institutions and doctors,” said juror and BookMyShow founder Ashish Hemrajani.
On winning the award, Bhogra said: “I am deeply indebted to the sacrifice of my cofounders who have adopted this vision of using technology to save lives and created one of the world’s leading health and artificial intelligence companies. We have helped save lives of 2 million Indians in our war against non-communicable diseases. We have another 98 million to go by creating the largest virtual cardiology network and extending our reach to the most remote corners of our country.”
In India, 1.5-3 million deaths happen due to heart attacks every year. Most of these deaths can be prevented through timely diagnosis. Tricog is present in 12 countries. It has started working with the Goa government to install its software in 13 clinics and is talking to nine other state governments to push the product.
Niramai has developed a breast cancer screening solution that is non-touch and non-invasive. It uses data analytics, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning over thermography images and has shown success in early detection of breast cancer.
