CHENNAI: Celebrities are betting big on automotive startups. Just weeks after M S Dhoni announced his association with Cars24 comes Deepika Padukone’s investment in e-mobility startup Blu Smart.

An all-electric mobility service, Blu Smart has raised an angel round of $3 million led by JITO Angel Network, investment office of Deepika Padukone — Ka Enterprises, Kalpavriksh Trust (Centrum VC Fund), Survam Partners (Suman Kant Munjal Family Office), Rajesh Agarwal (co-founder of Micromax) and Sanjiv Bajaj (MD of Bajaj Capital), among other leading angels and stage VCs.

It was founded by Puneet Singh Jaggi, Anmol Singh Jaggi and Punit K Goyal early this year as an all-electric mobility solution. “Blu Smart has served over 20,000+ customers since its launch in just three months in Delhi NCR and aims to serve 1 million+ customers in the coming months,” said co-founder Goyal. As a part of its growth plans, Blu Smart is in discussions to raise a $25 million series-A round by early 2020 as it plans to scale its operations full stack across Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Pune and Hyderabad.
