BENGALURU: US-based ecommerce firm Amazon has launched Amazon Flex, a new programme to onboard partners to expand its delivery capacity in India. Individuals with a two-wheeler can sign up, create their own schedule and deliver packages using the app. They will receive a payment of Rs 120-140 per hour every Wednesday through online transfer.

The freelance delivery partners will have to go through a background verification process and hands-on training before they begin delivering. They can also learn from in-app videos about safe driving and delivering customer experience. All Amazon Flex participants are covered under a group insurance policy of up to Rs 5 lakh for accidents and disabilities. The programme is live in Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai and will be expanded to other cities later this year.
