Indian shoppers spent Rs 153 billion ($2.1 billion) during the Diwali shopping season, with credit card spend growing faster than debit card year on year, also comprising half of the total spend, as per Visa’s analysis.

The five cities of Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai contributed 46% of total offline spend. Chandigarh, Coimbatore and Pune showed increase of up to 64% in debit spend
