BENGALURU: New Delhi-based Sattviko, a quick service chain of vegetarian restaurants, has launched a marketplace for a range of packaged 'Satvik' foods. “The whole idea is to build a brand in Delhi targeting people who relate to yoga-related food,“ said Founder Prasoon Gupta. The company has signed up 25 vendors, including farmers and cottage industries, to manufacture these food items to be sold under the Sattviko brand on its marketplace. It also partnered with restau rant aggregation site Foodpanda.in to list its products.

Sattviko, which in February raised Rs 2 crore in seed funding, is in talks to raise more money in 4-5 months mainly to expand its online marketplace, said Gupta.

Restaurant chains have been struggling to expand amid high asset costs and that has led to the rise of takeaway and delivery-led models in the food space.

“If you want to grow as a company in the next 5-6 years you need to be asset-light,“ said Gupta. Sattviko has four outlets and plans to open six more in Delhi in six months. It then plans to enters Mumbai with packaged foods before opening restaurants in the city, Gupta said.

“Every brand has a go-to-market strategy in place. QSR for Sattviko has been the first stage of the same `go-to-market' strategy, to create a very strong, healthy-food brand that finally evolves into the largest e-marketplace for yogic lifestyle products,“ said Sumit Jain, cofounder, CommonFloor, a real estate portal and investor in Sattviko.

Other angels include Xerox India Non-Executive Director Rajat Jain and Samsung executive Sanjay Bhasin.
